How to clean/maintain vintage stuffed animals?
On a whim I looked up a stuffed animal I had as a child (and still have). I see that there are still some around that people are selling.
I was wondering what tips people had for keeping their stuffed animals. I normally don't care for them too much, but I'm attached to this one. It also doubles as a little toy bag with zipper. I used to use it as a backpack when I was small enough.
I've read that washing it in a pillowcase can be helpful. Other suggestions? Would there be any problem with keeping an animal in a plastic bag for safe-keeping? What do you do with your favorite stuffed toys?
Do not store it in a plastic bag!! That will eventually destroy it. I suggest buying a storage bag designed for clothing,(the chemicals don't break down and seep through) Also, washing it in a pillow case is fine, but i would use a mild detergent, (like dreft)so you don't fade it, and a gentle cold water wash good luck....also, some oxy clean would help, but make sure you dry it thoroughly (in the pillowcase)after washing to avoid the stuffing mildewing.
